Regular readers of my blog will know that I generally try to avoid offending when I can - at least I like to think I avoid offending. I usually feel I can say what I need to say without tearing down people who think differently than me. But recently, I've been moved to make a more bold, declaratory statement.
Here goes....
White Christmas lights are boring. Multi-colored Christmas lights are fun. Possisble exception: if you have candles in your windows ONLY, then it is ok to use just white lights. Otherwise, people, go for the color! If you want an 'elegant' look, I've seen some very nice very pale multi-colored lights that are not too boring. Seriously.
Sorry. But it had to be said.

That's it! We are SO over!
I prefer white lights.
Wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong.
Jen and I were driving around the other day and I said "I really like those white lights so much more than all the gaudy colors."
Whoa! Glad I'm not paying that electric bill.
We used to do multi-colored lights... but I prefer all white. Maybe that's because I now live in Florida, and I am so tired of flamingo pink, lime green, neon yellow, hibiscus red, and tangerine orange all year long! Not to mention the houses in this area that are painted purple, salmon, yellow, turquoise, chartreuse, and magenta! I think my eyes need a rest. White lights are just right.
Hubby, however, prefers all blue... it's soothing, relaxing, and almost peaceful.
But I'll drive by your multi-colored house and "ooh" and "ahh!"
However, for what it's worth, my Christmas tree is "color-changing fiber optic!"
I couldn't agree with you more. Unfortunately, my wife wouldn't. She's put white lights on our tree for 20 years. You'd think I'd get use to it. But I still miss the colored lights of my childhood.
No sorry no agreement white christmas lights are classy coloured ones are too often tacky!
