Rev. Lovejoy makes a great character. I cannot think of the pastor's name on King of the Hill, but she is the Methodist pastor in town, and a few stories have developed around her and the church. Of course, the purpose of these shows is not to make realistic portrayals of clergy, although the King of the Hill example may not be that far off . . .Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6655521.post-12446164371296776252007-11-05T08:20:00.000-05:002007-11-05T08:20:00.000-05:00There was the evil demented pastor in Carnivale. ...There was the evil demented pastor in Carnivale. But nobody watched that show, so it's fine.

There was also Father Phil from The Sopranos, who was portrayed as almost subliminally enjoying the fawning he'd get from all the gangsters' wives, especially the food they'd bring him. He was inches away from a fling with Carmella, too. That portrayal wasn't too bad, as I'm sure people sworn to celibacy deal with that sort of thing all the time.Jeff Nelsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15077957635136271689noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6655521.post-15038837915803820902007-10-27T19:12:00.000-05:002007-10-27T19:12:00.000-05:00I'm a Gilmore Girls fan. They showed the two as being good friends, making fun of the town mayor together, and even sharing the same worship space. The rest of the time, though, they dragged out the reverend to "christen" a few babies and guilt Rory into not having sex. No depth of character at all.Meredithhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06344156278796671986noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6655521.post-84935573804178621432007-10-27T18:40:00.000-05:002007-10-27T18:40:00.000-05:00Only one I can think of right now that hasn't been...Only one I can think of right now that hasn't been mentioned is that the character of Josh Lewis on Guiding Light is now a minister. Yeah, he decided one day it was a good day and within a couple of months became the head pastor in town. Kinda makes me want to hit someone.karenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03140525208481352659noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6655521.post-22123021699327530492007-10-27T18:12:00.000-05:002007-10-27T18:12:00.000-05:00I always wanted to see a chaplain in Scrubs.I always wanted to see a chaplain in Scrubs.Christopherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05503120317139858666noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6655521.post-44637311074978262142007-10-27T16:21:00.001-05:002007-10-27T16:21:00.001-05:00And "Book" on Firefly. And "Book" on Firefly.Theresa Colemanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12134175277230355640noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6655521.post-13038189839855729842007-10-27T16:21:00.000-05:002007-10-27T16:21:00.000-05:00Life of DanielSorta realisticNOT.Life of Daniel
Sorta realistic
NOT.Theresa Colemanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12134175277230355640noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6655521.post-25164556614322356342007-10-27T13:29:00.000-05:002007-10-27T13:29:00.000-05:00Well "Brothers and Sisters" has a UM male clergy w...Well "Brothers and Sisters" has a UM male clergy who is having sexual relations with one of the main male characters.Scotthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06784668813923290837noreply@blogger.com
